Organisational Support

NW Organisational Development Network

The North West Employers Organisational Development Network is a collaborative space for OD professionals from across the region. It brings together OD practitioners from North West local authorities to share insights, explore best practices, and support innovation organisation and workforce development. Through quarterly meetings and expert-led sessions, the network fosters an informal, reflective learning environment that supports practical application. Whether you’re new to OD or an experienced practitioner, the network offers a supportive environment where you can develop your knowledge and skills, grow as a professional and help shape the future of North West Local Government.

Behavioral-Based HR and OD

Our behaviour-based HR and OD programme is designed to support people professionals across local government in applying a behavioural lens to their work. Grounded in key psychological and behavioural research, the programme explores how workplace behaviours shape culture, performance, and change. It offers practical insights into reducing challenges like conflict and resistance to change, while highlighting ways to boost wellbeing, collaboration, and productivity. By understanding and working with human behaviour, rather than against it, HR and OD teams can create more effective, inclusive environments that support both individual growth and organisational success.

Evidenced-Based HR and OD

Within the public sector, the need to use evidence and data to inform decision making and redesign services, is more important than ever. With the increasing accountability on the sector, it’s essential that we base our actions on high-quality evidence. Our evidence-based HR and OD programme equips HR and OD professionals with the skills to apply evidence-informed approaches in their work. It covers how to conduct applied research, use people analytics effectively, evaluate development interventions, and ensure learning is transferred into practice. By building these capabilities, HR and OD teams can enhance the quality of support they provide leading to better outcomes for the workforce and the communities they serve.

Organisational Development Practitioner Essentials (ODPE) Programme

Our Organisational Development Practitioner Essentials (ODPE) Programme is a dynamic development experience designed to equip people professionals with the skills, confidence, and insight needed to lead meaningful organisational change across the public sector.

Delivered in a collaborative virtual environment, ODPE brings together HR, L&D and OD practitioners from across the region to explore how organisations can evolve, innovate, and thrive in an increasingly complex world shaped by devolution, digital transformation, and emerging technologies such as AI.

The programme blends practical tools with cutting-edge thinking, helping participants build capability in areas such as systemic leadership, organisational design, evidence-based practice, and sustainable change. Through a carefully structured series of modules, delegates develop a deeper understanding of how to influence without authority, support high-performing teams, and enable organisations to adapt and respond effectively to constant change.

A key feature of the programme is its strong emphasis on real-world application. Participants work collaboratively on a live organisational development project provided by a North West local authority, allowing them to apply learning in practice, test new approaches, and build confidence in a supportive but challenging environment.

ODPE is more than a training programme – it is a professional community. Delegates benefit from peer learning, ongoing networking through an online platform, and access to an alumni network that continues to support development long after the programme ends.

By the end of the programme, participants are better equipped to act as trusted partners within their organisations, capable of driving transformation, shaping inclusive and resilient workplaces, and unlocking the potential of people and systems to deliver better outcomes for communities across the North West.
