Overview
This session focuses on the psychological and social dimensions of conflict and how it emerges within the workplace. Key models will be presented to support people professionals to identify and understand conflict better, along with how to minimise its impact and bring about successful resolution.
Objectives
- Define workplace conflict.
- Introduce the neuroscience of conflict and discuss conflict from a behavioural and social prospective.
- Highlight the factors that can contribute to conflict and how conflict develops through the conflict curve.
- Discuss approaches that can be adopted when dealing with conflict along with their strength and weakness. Identify one’s own approach.
- Highlight the behaviours that may be displayed by people during conflict.
- Discuss the steps to successful conflict resolution and the benefits of doing so in the workplace.
