To help prevent this within North West authorities, our AI apprenticeship offer delivered in partnership with Decoded, helps build practical and strategic AI and data capability across the workforce, empowering leaders and teams to innovate responsibly. This offer can also help support and develop AI and technological skills and succession, along with providing a developmental pathway and talent pipeline within this area.

Become an AI Engineer – Level 6 Apprenticeship
AI is reshaping industries, and skilled engineers are at the heart of this transformation. Our AI Engineer Level 6 Apprenticeship, delivered in partnership with Decoded, is a 20-month programme designed to help technical professionals build deep expertise in machine learning, scalable AI solutions, and responsible innovation.

Who’s it for?
If you work in programming, software development, or data analysis—and you’re ready to lead AI initiatives or develop advanced AI products—this programme is for you.

What you’ll master:

• Machine learning foundations and advanced techniques
• AI product development and deployment
• Cloud architecture and scaling strategies
• Responsible AI and governance
• Leadership in AI engineering

Key topics include:

• AI Product Development
• Data Exploration and Transformation
• Deep Learning, LLMs, and Generative AI
• Designing and Deploying Scalable AI Products

Tools you’ll use:
Python, SQL, Pandas, FastAPI, Databricks, and leading cloud platforms

Learn how to:

• Understand AI product strategy and engineering principles
• Design and build machine learning models using advanced mathematics and algorithms
• Develop and scale AI applications with cutting-edge tools and cloud technologies
• Lead responsible AI innovation and navigate governance challenges

Programme details:

• Length: 20 months (+ End Point Assessment)
• Cost: £22,000 per learner (funded through the apprenticeship levy)
• Commitment: 20% weekly off-the-job training
