Liz McQue
Chief Executive

Liz’s main focus is representing the interests of the local authorities as employers and working with partners to improve outcomes for the people of the North West. Liz has previously worked in metropolitan and county councils and thinks she has the best job in the world as she gets to spend time solving problems and working with leaders to make change happen. In her other life Liz tries to pretend she is good at gardening and enjoys painting.

Keith Power
Director – Workforce & Employment

Keith brings a wealth of knowledge and practical application ability to North West Employers. Previous positions within both the public and private sectors encompass Human Resource, Commercial Management and inspection services for a local authority regulatory body. Keith leads on workforce transformation and strategic planning, employment advice and direct HR support for authorities, their partners and communities. In his spare time Keith enjoys tactically avoiding D.I.Y and watching world cinema.

Rene Barrett
Director – Development

Rene’s previous experience includes periods as Assistant Director of HR with Salford MBC and as Director of Education for the GMB trade union.  She has extensive employee relations experience and is regarded as a leading regional figure in relation to workforce development and skills. In her spare time Rene loves nothing more than travelling the globe finding new and exciting destinations and is also a big fan of live music and watching a certain Manchester based football team.

Kathryn Martin
Senior Executive Assistant

Kathryn started her work life as a Sales Co-ordinator selling slot machines to global clients where she quickly gained excellent customer and client relationship management skills. Drawn to the public sector, Kathryn began her journey with North West Employers thirteen years ago as a Support Assistant and now works as the Senior Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive, juggling her hectic schedule with precision. In her spare time Kathryn loves spending time with close family and friends and is partial to a bit of karaoke at her local cricket club.

Denise Isherwood
Commercial Assistant

Denise came to North West Employers after eleven years at Bolton Council, two years in housing and nine years in organisational development. She is now a Commercial Assistant providing support on specified learning and development programmes and projects. In her spare time Denise loves to read novels, and says she is definitely not a romance novel kinda girl. Denise has friends and family in various countries and has made it her mission to visit them more often.

Janet Appleton
Executive Assistant / ADASS Sector Led Improvement

Before joining North West Employers Janet was an Executive Office Manager for the North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership. Janet now supports our Chief Executive on external projects such as SLI and ADASS and also supports assessment centres for senior officer recruitments. In addition, she dedicates half her time to Wigan Council as their Project Coordinator for Democratic Services. In her spare time Janet enjoys cooking (especially lots of treats for the office), gardening and crafts.

Sharon Senior
Director

Sharon started her career at Sainsbury’s where she gained early management experience and developed an interest in learning and development.  Her passion then led her to local government, working for Bolton Council and then Lancashire County Council to pursue a career in organisational development, before joining North West Employers in 2013. Sharon works with our regional stakeholders, including elected members, on the strategies for learning and skills development. Sharon also has a deep love of modern soul and funk music and has also been known to sing along.

David C
David Carty
Development Adviser

Before joining  North West Employers David was a personnel and training officer for Warrington Council. David is our Development Adviser and his main role is to organise and deliver a range of effective consultancy and learning activities, including support for recruitment and selection, that focus on the development of skills, both in local government and other partner organisations. As a dad of two teenage boys, David’s weekends are spent travelling across Cheshire taking them to play football and he also enjoys watching his beloved Warrington Wolves rugby league team.

Andrew Manson 
Principal Adviser – Employee Relations & Employment Law

Andrew has a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and MA in Human Resources and joined North West Employers in 1998. His specific expertise is providing authorities with employment law and employee relations advice. He is also the regional contact for queries on local government conditions of service and teachers’ terms and conditions. When not in work Andrew enjoys spending time with his family and walking the dogs.

Melanie Booth
Corporate Resources Manager

Mel started her working career with North West Employers over twenty years ago as an accounts assistant and has seen the organisation grow and change over the years. Mel is now our Corporate Resources Manager and handles the day to day running of the office and the finances and accounting side of the business. In her spare time Mel loves spending time with the kids away and is fond of a spot of camping… although most would call in glamping.

Pat Wilson
Business Delivery Officer

Pat is one of our longest serving employees with over 30 years experience in the public sector. Having started as a part time office junior she has gained vast knowledge of the organisation through hands on application. Pat is now a Business Delivery Officer providing support across the whole organization and ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of our services to our member organisations. In her free time Pat loves to read, especially in warmer climates and can often be found sun lounging with a good book.

Diana Ravenscroft
Business Delivery Assistant

Diana joined North West Employers in 1994 as a word processor operator and telephonist for the whole organisation, progressing on to work with the learning and development team. Diana is now part of the Business Delivery/Commercial Unit Team and provides support across the whole organisation. In her spare time Diana chauffeurs her son to his football activities and games, and loves being around family and friends, and like some of the other members of the team enjoys partaking in a spot of Karaoke.

Sarah Farley
Business Delivery Assistant

Sarah started her journey at North West Employers as a Support Assistant thirteen years ago and quickly graduated to Finance Assistant covering a maternity leave position. Currently Sarah is now one of our Business Delivery Assistants, providing support across the whole organisation and making the wheels turn here in the Office. In her spare time Sarah loves to get involved in volunteering and raising money for charities, spending time with her family and is also a keen and talented photographer.

Stuart Baguley
Business Delivery Assistant

Stuart started life at North West Employers immediately after completing his GCSE exams as an apprentice over 5 years ago. In that time he has progressed and undergone significant personal development and is now a Business Delivery Assistant, a varied and essential role in making the organisation tick on a daily basis. As a new father Stuart’s free time is some what limited but he still enjoys a trip to Warrington Wolves to support his local Rugby League team and has been known to consume a Donner Kebab or two on the weekends.

Charlotte Brown
Business Delivery and Support Officer

Charlotte worked for most of her 20s as a Tour Guide, taking Americans on coaches around Europe on their holidays, a job which involved a lot of quick problem solving and people skills. She then worked for the NHS in their IT department before moving from the South to the North and starting work with North West Employers. She manages regional networks and data gathering and sharing. In her spare time she dances lindyhop and is always planning a holiday.

Hannah Greenock
NW ADASS Improvement Support Assistant

Hannah has recently moved from London where she worked with Arcadia. Hannah is originally from Leeds and is really enjoying being back in the North. Hannah enjoys cooking in all forms but really enjoys baking. Hannah has a little boy who keeps her very busy and when they are not busy cycling and catching bugs, she loves spending time with her friends, visiting food markets with her partner Dan and attempting lots of DIY in their new home. Hannah is really excited to be working with NW ADASS and is looking forward to meeting everyone.
