The intention is to run a one-day workshop that shows participants ideas they can use to design and deliver engaging, participative training that learners will remember and be inspired by.
By the end of the day, participants will be able to:
- List some of the road blocks to learning and ways to overcome these.
- Explain the value of creating unusual and engaging learning and the impact this has on memory and retention.
- Bring discussion sessions to life and inject energy into the training they deliver.
- Practice using metaphor, simile or storytelling to invent creative training simulations and exercises.
- Use a creative technique for reviewing learning.
This will be a fast-paced day crammed with ideas for designing and delivering creative training. Participant will learn the value of training that is fun and engaging and will leave with practical tools and ideas that they will be able to apply when designing and delivering their own training interventions.
The day will explore as many aspects of learning, memory, retention and impact as possible, including the learning environment and the effective and creative use of icebreakers and review activities. I’ll show participants the method I’ve used to create activities like Murder at Glasstap Grange, Island of Opportunity and many more and give them the opportunity to ‘have a go’ using my step by step approach to training design.
Facilitator: Rod Webb, Associate, North West Employers
