Our North West Regional Pay Consultation Meeting took place on the 20th of July 2017. North West Employers member authorities were fully briefed on the Joint Trade Union (NJC Local Government Services) pay claim for 2018 and were provided with the opportunity to advise on the 2018 pay negotiations. In addition, other potential implications for future pay and reward arrangements generate particularly complex circumstances, as the following three issues may have a significant impact upon the medium term planning of authorities. This includes:
- The progressive impact of annual increases to the National Living Wage (NLW) through to 2020.
- The negotiations for a general increase to the pay spine effective April 2018 in the context of public sector pay.
- A review of the NJC LGS pay spine to establish a more sustainable model.
The lead contact at North West Employer is Keith Power
Similar consultations are taking place around other regions across summer, to develop a national picture. Further information on national discussions is likely to become available in September.
