We are delighted to announce that following a robust process the post has been offered to Gillian Bishop. Gillian is currently Chief Executive at Link4Life, the Rochdale Boroughwide Cultural Trust and has considerable experience in leading in a number of key roles, including Corporate Director at Wigan Council, Chief Executive at the North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership, Chief Executive at Allerdale Borough Council and Deputy Chief Executive at Rossendale Borough Council.
I am immensely proud to be the chair of North West Employers and of the work we do to support local authorities and their partners, and I am really pleased that Gillian is joining us to continue to make a difference. We look forward to shaping the next phase with her and I know the organisation will continue to thrive under her leadership.
I wanted to play tribute to the work Liz McQue has done for the organisation and the contribution she has made to public services in the North West over the last nearly 30 years. Liz will be leaving us at the end of September but I have absolutely no doubt that she will continue to make a valuable contribution to improving public services, and the Executive Board are indebted to her for the service and leadership she has given in making North West Employers such a vibrant, successful and respected organisation.
I know the team at North West Employers will be really sorry to lose Liz as many of them have worked with her for many years and have forged special friendships with her during that time. However, like me and the other members, they know that this is the right time for Liz to start a new phase in her life and are excited for her as she plans her next steps. I will personally miss Liz for her sense of fun and down to earth personality, but also for her trusted advice, loyalty and absolute commitment to North West Employers and public services as a whole. I know you will all join me in wishing Liz all the very best for her future.
Gillian and Liz will be working together over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition to enable the organisation to continue to flourish, and I look forward to you being part of that journey with us.
