Following the very positive feedback from the last employment law update, provided by Darren Newman, we are considering adjusting the format with Darren so that attendees can gain the maximum value from Darren’s participative style.
Previous attendees particularly valued the open workshop slot, where there was the opportunity to discuss the approaches and risks involved in dealing with complex employment issues in ‘hypothetical’ cases. This will enable HR teams to attend to consider together issues of concern or interest.
The proposal is to adjust the balance of the full day workshop so that the general update on key employment topics is shorter. The remainder of the workshop will be organised around;
- A review of topics or specific case law pre-selected by NW HR community
- A set of discussions on pre-prepared ‘themes’ selected by the NW HR community e.g. managing sickness absence disruption to disciplinary procedure
- An open ‘peer review’ session (contribution by all) to discuss ideas and suggestions on how to resolve problematic issues – a BYO problem slot using ‘purely hypothetical’ issues
